Inaugurated in 1969, this museum is a pioneer of its kind in Spain. Its origin dates back to the 1964 Ibiza Biennale, when its organisers decided that the prize-winning works should form part of the future museum's collection.
It also houses a collection of engravings from the Ibigrafic competition, which has been held since 1972. In addition to the Firearms Hall and Almacenes a Prova, its main buildings, there are exhibition spaces inside Dalt Vila's ancient walled enclosure: the Gunpowder Room in the Bastion of Santa Llúcia and the Church of El Hospitalet.
After painstaking rehabilitation to recover its original state, including the furniture, the building was inaugurated as a multi-functional museum space in February 2010. Painter and architect Erwin Broner (Munich 1898- Kreuth, 1971) was a prominent figure in Ibiza's art scene. Erwin Broner first came to the island in 1934, in flight from the Nazis because of his Jewish roots. He was born into the heart of a well-off family surrounded by an encouraging ambience for artistic inspirations. Together with other artists, Broner founded the Ibiza59 group, with which he mounted exhibitions and other cultural activities until its dissolution in 1964. In his facet as an architect, he was adept at combining traditional Ibizan architecture with modern elements. Among the different constructions he erected on the island was his own home, which he built between 1959 and 1960 in what was the fishermen's quarter of Sa Penya in the city of Ibiza, as well as the expansion of another, pre-existing house, which was inhabited by his widow, Gisela Broner, until her death in 2005, when it was donated to the Ibiza Municipal Council. After painstaking rehabilitation to recover its original state, including the furniture, the building was inaugurated as a multi-functional museum space in February 2010. Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in the monument category, it is part of the Broner Foundation, which works to disseminate the artist's work and other cultural activities of interest. The building has two storeys and a garden. On the first floor is a living space with an enormous window looking out to the sea and on the ground floor is a work space. A small, yet spectacular bridge was erected over the cliff on which the house is situated so that both storeys would have independent entrances. New visitors to our islands are accompanied by curiosity about the culture and customs of the ancestral people who populated the Pitiusan Islands and their influence on our times. Therefore, the Ibiza Island Council, through the direction of the Ibiza Ethnography Museum and in collaboration with the Fundació Illes Balears, promotes the recovery, conservation and dissemination of our ethnologic heritage and offers temporary and permanent exhibitions and even living examples of artisans at work. The Ibiza Ethnography Museum, located in Can Ros des Puig de Missa in Santa Eulària des Riu, offers historic-ethnographic examples of the culture, economy and popular customs of the Pitiusan Islands, such as clothing, jewellery, farming implements and oil and winemaking tools. Inaugurated on May 1, 1994, the museum aims to recover and research all aspects of Pitiusan country life and holds exhibitions on the wide range of heritage materials that is being recovered. The museum's permanent exhibitions include one room dedicated to clothing and jewellery, another for all types of farming implements and a third to miscellaneous objects. A tour of the house reveals other exhibits, such as a wine cellar that demonstrates how winemaking takes place, the kitchen, where women did part of their work; the trull or oil press for oil making, bedrooms and a porch on the upper storey, which offers a spectacular view of the municipality and its coastline. The Museum also houses temporary exhibitions that are organised and sponsored by the Ibiza and Formentera Council, such as the 'Capells i Espardenyes' exhibit, which features the basic items in traditional Pitiusan clothing - hats and espadrilles - and an exhibition entitled 'Imatges i Maquetes Etnogràfiques', which features images and scale models that reflect typical elements of the Pitiusa's cultural heritage. In addition, during the summer a group of craftsmen show how their work is done in public by making musical instruments, esparto products and traditional garb. The history of the Pitiusas Islands is represented in the Archaeological Museum of Eivissa and Formentera. Its two buildings feature a complete display of the different periods which make up the past of these islands, from the prehistoric period up to the Christian conquest. One of the museum's sites is in Dalt Vila, the walled area which encloses the part of the town with the greatest number of monuments. It comprises various buildings, the most interesting ones of which are the entrance, an old chapel built by the fishermen's guild, and one of its main rooms, the one which was the Town Hall until 1838, and prior to that, the headquarters of the Universitat. This building has an interesting Mudejar coffered ceiling with arabesque overtones and Gothic elements which appeared during the restoration work, as well as the foundations of an old tower of the Muslim wall. Through the exhibition of valuable objects, the different rooms present a historic sequence of the Pitiusas Islands, spanning the prehistoric period, the Phoenician colonisation, the Punic world, the Roman and Islamic periods, up to the Catalan conquest of 1235. Punic necropolis The other part of the museum is situated in the lower area of the town, in Vía Romana. The building is closed for alterations at present, although it is possible to visit a very well-preserved Punic necropolis which is regarded as the most important burial complex in the Western Mediterranean area. It is advisable to start with a visit to the necropolis and then head for the museum in the Dalt Vila going through the Portal Nou, one of the main gates in the walled area. This museum building overlooks the Plaza del Mirador, the place with the greatest number of monuments on the entire island. This square housed the first market exchange, where commercial deals were negotiated and slave auctions were held. Surrounding it are the cathedral, the Episcopal palace, the small curia, the Archaeological Museum and a splendid viewpoint from where you can look over the whole of the port area. The paintings in this museum offer a snapshot of rural life on the island and city of Ibiza and its environs, as well as its customs and rites throughout the twentieth century. The Puget Museum is dedicated to work by painters Puget Viñas and Puget Riquer and houses a collection of 130 pictorial works that introduce us to everyday life on the island in the mid-twentieth century. Located in Can Comasema, a palace in Dalt Vila, the museum is divided into several galleries according to painter. The galleries dedicated to Puget Riquer's work contain twenty-nine watercolours and twenty-nine drawings of the city of Ibiza's streets, landscapes and people. The galleries dedicated to works by his father, Puget Vines, feature forty-two oils and thirty drawings of rural life, women at the centre of family life and Ibiza's customs and rituals. Two other galleries have drawings by both artists on display. Puget Museum. Calle Sant Ciriac, 16. Dalt Vila Guided tours for students and groups. Free of charge. Casa de la Cúria has retrieved the memory of the ancient, medieval Muslim town of Madina Yabisa through audio-visual technology. Thanks to a joint project by the University of Barcelona and the Ibiza Town Council's Heritage Department, the Madina Yabisa Interpretation Centre was inaugurated in Dalt Vila's ancient Casa de La Cúria this past May. This modern interpretation centre uses audio-visual technology to show the history of the city of Ibiza, especially in the Madina Yabisa area during Muslim rule. One of the centre's most outstanding elements is the gallery that houses a scale model of the city's old fortifications, accompanied by an audio-visual documentary in several languages that show the city's history and evolution down the centuries. The Casa de La Cúria building was rehabilitated by architect Toni Marí, who designed the interior very carefully with tones and illumination that enhance visitors' experiences of the atmosphere and the excellent adaptation of the remains of the medieval wall. Free admission Opening hours: Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. and Sundays 10.00 a.m. to 13.00 p.m. Monday and Holidays closed.

Artemisia opened in 2002. The head of the gallery manufactures pressed flower pictures in situ and is always open to sharing her knowledge about the plants on the island.
A gallery devoted especially to ceramics, with special attention to artists living on Ibiza who make crafts from the island. One of its unique features is that the gallery is the only one on all of Ibiza where you can find original collections by jeweller Enric Majoral, an internationally renowned artist.
A small gallery open since 1980. It is located inside a former Ibiza country home.
